Cancellation
An outbound order can be cancelled at any stage — from a fresh draft to a partially shipped order. The system never blocks the cancellation and never rolls physical moves back: goods do not travel back to their storage cells on their own. The order takes the Cancelled status immediately, and the records are levelled by compensations. The cancellation action is in the order's menu, next to its history and picks.
What exactly the compensation does depends on how far the work has gone:
- Stock was only reserved. The reservation is released and the goods are available in storage again. Nothing else happens.
- Stock is picked and still on the balance — in a container or in the shipping zone. It stays where it physically is; the reservation is released. Returning it to storage is an ordinary putaway from the zone.
- The order is in a batch pick that is already running. The started batch runs to its plan; the cancelled order's surplus surfaces at the sorting step and is put away separately from there.
- Part of the order has already shipped — the goods have left the warehouse balance. They come back only through a separate document: a shipment-cancellation receipt tied to the cancelled order. The return can be partial — the customer keeps part and sends the rest back. In the records this is a shipment cancellation, not a customer return: they are different operations with different reporting. The returned goods land in the zone and become available again only after putaway. If a container carried several orders, only the cancelled order's share comes back — the container lives on for the rest.
Cancelling a single line
A line is cancelled in the picking document, and it is not a deletion: the system records a cancellation fact with its own quantity. The order's execution view shows the cancelled quantity in its own column, next to the planned and picked quantities, and the outstanding demand shrinks by the cancelled amount. Part of a line's demand can be cancelled rather than the whole line.
The action is not available to everyone. It requires a cancellation permission in the user's profile — a warehouse manager or a trusted worker; a regular picker does not see the action — and the document itself must allow cancellation. Cancelled lines do not get in the way of the remaining work: the pick-everything mode skips them, and a document with cancelled lines closes normally.
